The Beginning

Montana Pro Rodeo and the circuit finals began in 1979. Run by a board of directors of 12 members representing each event, the MPRC is one of 14 Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) circuits. With 32 PRCA-sanctioned rodeos in Montana, the season begins at the Northern International Livestock Exposition (NILE) PRCA Rodeo and ends the following year in September.

Montana is proud to have the second-highest-paying circuit finals in the nation! Other circuits in the PRCA include Columbia River, California, Wilderness, Mountain States, Turquoise, Texas, Prairie, Great Lakes, Southeastern, First Frontier, Maple Leaf, and Badlands.

Starting each night at 7:00 p.m. MST in the Pacific Steel & Recycling Arena at Montana Expopark, the MPRC Finals gives cowboys and cowgirls who may not have the resources and flexibility to travel and rodeo full-time an opportunity to compete on a large stage for good money. At the conclusion of the finals, each of the winners from the event and the year-end winners are invited to compete at the NFR Open at the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo in Colorado Springs, Colorado in July.
